Left reverse corner - Sharp
Pull up on the left in a Safe, Convenient And Legal Position before the junction.
The examiner will inform you that they want you to reverse your car into the side road on the left, keeping reasonably close to the kerb.
Prepare the car, Observe, Move off.
Pull up on the left about 2-3 car lengths passed the junction but leave approximately 50cm gap between your car and the kerb as you are not parking.
Prepare the car in reverse gear (clutch only, no gas needed - unless in a petrol car).
Observe (right shoulder to left shoulder).
Move off slowly (when safe) looking over your left shoulder.
You should be able to see the corner in your rear window. As you reverse the corner will disappear from view of the rear window.
Once the corner is out of view start looking in the rear left window and continue until you think your rear wheels are at the start of the corner. To double check, pause the car and check your left door mirror to see if you can see any of the straight kerb before the corner. If you can see some straight kerb you need to go a little bit further before turning.
Turn the steering wheel quickly (3 half turns to full lock) until the bottom bar reaches 1.30 clock position.
When you think you are getting nearly all the way round the corner start to look in the rear window again and wait for the nearside kerb to meet the car halfway across the rear window (normally where the wiper pivots).
When you see this, quickly turn the wheel to the right (3 half turns) to get your wheels straight.
Then guide yourself back keeping the nearside kerb halfway across the rear window until you have travelled approximately 3 car lengths into the side road.
REMEMBER - Throughout the manoeuvre you need to look all around for traffic every car length (approx. 7-8 times).
